STEVEN SHAW was a James Beard Award-winning food critic, and the author of Turning the Tables and Asian Dining Rules. Starting with his Fat Guy newsletter (a blog before there were blogs) and leading through his creation of the phenomenally successful eGullet website, he was a pioneer for food writing online. He contributed to The New York Times Op-Ed page, Saveur magazine, Crain’s New York Business, Food Arts, Food & Wine, Cooking Light, Elle and many other publications. He taught food writing at the French Culinary Institute and was a featured speaker at the 92nd Street Y, Smithsonian Institution and International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP) conferences. Food & Wine named him one of the 35 most fearsome young talents in food, and his work has been a Best Food Writing selection many times over.
