MICHAEL PSILAKIS
MICHAEL PSILAKIS is the best known Greek chef in America. He has been lauded for both his traditional and reinterpreted Greek menus.
In 2008 alone, Psilakis was awarded Food & Wine’s Best New Chef, and named Chef of the Year by Bon Appétit and Esquire magazines; nominated for A-List Chef by Bravo TV; and had his upscale Greek restaurant, Anthos, nominated for a James Beard Award in the category of Best New Restaurant. Anthos redefined Greek food and has had a lasting impact on the cuisine in the U.S., as well as in Greece itself. The restaurant was awarded a Michelin star and named a best new restaurant by The New York Times.
Psilakis now owns Fishtag, and three locations of MP Taverna in Long Island, Astoria and Westchester.
In addition to running his restaurants, Psilakis was the Co-Executive Producer and Co-Star of BBC AMERICA’s original adventure cooking competition series, “No Kitchen Required,” which premiered in April 2012. Michael has also appeared many times on various Food Network shows, such as “The Ultimate Recipe Showdown” and “Iron Chef America.”
Psilakis’ top-selling cookbook, How to Roast a Lamb, was published in October 2009. His his latest cookbook, Live to Eat: Cooking the Mediterranean Way, was published in February 2017.
